MIRKA KNASTER has been practicing meditation in the Theravada tradition since her first retreat in India in 1981. She recently completed her Ph.D. in Asian and Comparative Studies with a dissertation on the process of cultivating ethical speech through interviews with dharma teachers and rabbis. She has freelanced as a writer and editor for at least twenty years.
