The Vimanavatthu is a Buddhist text; it is the sixth book of the Khuddaka Nikaya. Its name is Pali for "Vimana Stories". The Vimanavattu is an anthology of 83 short stories written in verse. The stories are connected to each other in that each of them describes the life and deeds of a character who has attained residence in a heavenly mansion, the "Vimana", due to his/her meritorious deeds. The text also uses the word "vimāna" to mean "a small piece of text used as the inspiration for a Buddhist sermon".
